GTS has extensive experience in open pit geotechnical design.  GTS is currently involved in the design of in pit spoil dumps on steeply dipping and low strength floors for a number of coal mines in the Bowen Basin.

Paul Maconochie has been geotechnical superintendent at the Ok Tedi porphyry copper mine in PNG where he was responsible for the geotechnical design of a pit with walls up to 800 metres in height.

Inclinometers and multiple piezometers have been successfully installed to depths of 500 metres by Paul Maconochie.  GTS is happy to help install instruments at your site.

Slope stability assessments can be carried out for  projects ranging from individual housing lots to major infra-structure such as cuttings for road and rail routes and for mining such as for highwall mining.

GTS  can undertake terrain evaluation that may encompass air photo interpretation, ground truthing, sampling, laboratory testing and the production of thematic maps such as risk maps.

Paul Maconochie has carried out hundreds of site investigations and has formulated foundation and design solutions.  GTS offers this as one of its services.

GTS is able to undertake peer review extending into pre-publication technical editing and has regularly undertaken this type of work for the CSIRO Mine Engineering Group.

GTS undertakes R & D. GTS  continues to be actively involved in the ongoing development of the
SiroJoint system for remotely mapping highwalls.
